IIT Bombay Racing – India’s premiere Formula Student Electric Team

Heads up folks.

Formula Student?

Formula Student UKFormula Student is Europe’s biggest educational motorsport event. It challenges budding engineers to design, build and compete as a team with their own single seat racing car. This annual event organised by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) attracts close to a 100 teams representing universities from all over the world.

It challenges students to design, build and race a single driver, open-wheeled race car assuming that they have been engaged by a manufacturing firm to produce a prototype car for evaluation as a potential production item.

Teams are judged for Design, Costs and Business Logic and the Cars are judged for Acceleration, Maneuverability, Endurance and Efficiency.

IIT Bombay Racing?

IIT_Bombay_racinglogoIIT Bombay Racing is India’s premier Formula Student Electric team with a vision to “Revolutionize Electric Mobility in India focusing on sustainable technologies and innovations”.

Participating each year now in the prestigious international competition Formula Student at Silverstone circuit, UK; (2017 with their electric car – “Orca”), these blokes from IIT have been winning the Formula Student Award by IMechE for being the best non-UK team for the past 3 years.

Here are some images of the team and their cars at Silverstone, UK.

Watch them unveil the Evo2 electric racing car 4 years ago. We wish there were more such videos about their built-from-scratch electric racing cars.

More power to them. Yay!
